Northern Thailand has three broad seasons. Each one feels different up in the hills where we live.
Cool season (November to February)
Many people's favourite. Days are dry and sunny, and mornings are cool and still — perfect for practice. In December to February it can get properly cold at night in the mountains, so bring a warm layer or two.
Hot season (March to May)
The hottest time of year. March and April can also bring hazy air across northern Thailand from seasonal agricultural burning. Early mornings and late afternoons are the best times to be active.
Green season (June to October)
The rains arrive and everything turns a deep, glowing green. Showers tend to be heavy but short. There are fewer travellers, and the landscape is at its most alive.
When is True Nature open?
Our 2026–27 retreat season runs from 8 October 2026 to 1 March 2027. Outside the season we run our 200-hour teacher trainings — in 2027, 1–26 June and 1–26 September. The easiest way to check is to choose your dates on our booking page.
