Guests sharing a moment between yoga practices

Getting here & arrival

How do I get to True Nature?

True Nature is about 45–50 minutes by car from Chiang Mai city. A Grab, InDrive or private taxi costs roughly 800–1,200 THB. Show your driver our directions and map. Some Grab drivers ask for a little extra once they realise there is no return fare.

When is check-in and check-out?

Please arrive between 2pm and 4pm, so you can settle in before afternoon yoga at 4:30pm. Check-out is 10:30am, after breakfast. Need something different? Ask us.

Can I get to Pai from True Nature?

Yes. Book a Chiang Mai–Pai minivan and ask to be picked up (or dropped off) at the 7-Eleven in Chiang Mai, Thailand, about a 15–20 minute walk from us.

The retreat

I am a beginner. Is the retreat right for me?

Yes. Beginners are very welcome. Come with an open mind — you do not need to master (or even know) any poses. Your first days are about the basics.

How many nights should I stay?

The minimum is 3 nights. 3–4 nights is a great start, 6–7 nights lets you go deeper, and 10+ nights gives the practice time to become a habit. See how long to stay.

What kind of yoga and meditation do you teach?

Breathing and meditation in the morning and afternoon, an active yoga class at 7:30am, and Yin, restorative or mobility-based yoga at 4:30pm — practical, non-dogmatic and open to beginners. Read more about yoga at the retreat and meditation at the retreat.

Do I have to join everything?

No. Everything apart from turning up for meals is optional — and nobody will check on that either. A day in a hammock with a book is allowed.

Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

No. Our shalas have mats, blocks, straps and bolsters for everyone.

Are there shared rooms for solo travellers?

Yes. As well as private rooms, some houses are booked as shared rooms — women-only or mixed. See our accommodation for the details.

What is included?

Your room, three vegetarian meals a day, morning and afternoon yoga, daily meditation, use of both shalas and all equipment, filtered water, tea, coffee and Wi-Fi. Optional activities cost extra.

Food & daily life

What food is served?

Vegetarian food, mostly Thai with some international dishes, and vegan options at every meal. We can work with many dietary needs — please tell us when you book. More about the food.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, everywhere — in the shared spaces and the rooms. (We still think a few days off screens is part of the point, but that is up to you.)

Can I do laundry?

Yes, there is a laundry service for a small fee.

Do you have animals?

Yes — quite a few adopted cats and dogs, plus free-range chickens. They may visit you on your balcony. If you have a phobia of animals, we may not be the right place for you.

Which toiletries should I bring?

Please use natural, biodegradable soap, shampoo and conditioner to protect the local ecosystem. If you do not have any, we sell locally made products at cost.

Policies & payment

Can I book directly with True Nature?

Yes. All retreat bookings can be made directly on our booking page, where you can see live availability and current rates. Your reservation is handled by True Nature, not a retreat marketplace.

Do you have a drugs and alcohol policy?

Yes. True Nature is strictly drug- and alcohol-free. Please do not bring either, even if you do not plan to use them here.

Can I smoke?

There is a designated smoking area. Please do not smoke in rooms or shared spaces.

How do I book and pay?

Choose your dates on our booking page to see live availability and rates. The current deposit, payment and cancellation terms are shown in the booking system before you confirm.

What about valuables?

Please look after any valuables you bring. If you would like us to store something, hand it to us on arrival.
