What a day at True Nature is really like

Yoga at sunset in the shala

Retreat websites can make every day look like a perfect sunrise. Ours sometimes are. More often, they are simply good, ordinary days — which turns out to be the point.

Morning

The birds usually wake you before your alarm. At 7:30 we meet in the shala for morning yoga — a Hatha or Vinyasa flow class to wake the body up. Nobody is judging your downward dog.

Breakfast at 09:30 is long and unhurried: fruit from the garden, granola, eggs from our chickens, strong coffee. It is often where the best conversations happen.

Middle of the day

Around 10:30 there may be an optional trip — the ice bath, a waterfall, a temple, the elephant sanctuary. Or not. Lunch is at 1pm, and then the afternoon is yours. Hammocks are well used. So are the dogs. So is the slackline, with mixed results.

Evening

At 4:30, as the heat fades, afternoon yoga is Yin or restorative. Sunset is around 6. Dinner is at 7 at the long table. After that, people drift: a chat under the stars, a book, lights out by 9:30. Saturday is pizza night.

That is it. Simple days, repeated gently, add up to something that feels surprisingly big.
